FIJI netball coach Unaisi Rokoura wants the national squad members to reach the required fitness level by the second beep test on March 9.

Following the fitness test a week ago, the former national skipper believes there is still room for improvement ahead of the Pacific Netball Series which will be held mid of this year.

Rokoura said the aim of the beep test was to gauge the players' fitness level after the festive break.

"The main focus was to test their endurance and strength level as these were the main components of fitness that these players were supposed to be working on during the break," she said.

"I must say the results were average which is expected of them. But the girls understand what's expected of them come our next fitness test which is scheduled for March 9."

Rokoura said she also received a video footage of New Zealand-based Jacinta Lal who was also part of the national squad.

"We appreciate her commitment in doing the test. We are expecting her to join the squad in April."

Meanwhile, the national team has started with proper training focusing on individual, court and gym sessions until the end of April.

Rokoura will conduct a one on one player interview as part of the High Performance Program on February 1 before conducting a combined training session with the Fiji under-21 team on February 2.

"All national elite players are requested to be part of these important sessions," she added.
