THE Fiji netball under-21 team has started with their full training program following a break during the festive season.
Team manager Della Shaw confirmed they were having three court sessions and a gym session every week as part of their preparation for the World Youth Championship in Scotland later in the year. She said the players underwent a fitness test two weeks ago before resuming training under the watchful eyes of coach Moape Vu.
"We didn't have the full fitness test. We just tested the players on the endurance level. We were pleased to see most players improve in that area," Shaw said.
"We have finalised our training program from January to April and the players will be sticking to that."
Shaw said they were planning to secure some build-up games before the championship which would be held in August.
She said they had sent a proposal to Netball Fiji and were awaiting its response.
"Funding is the major issue here and we hope to secure enough for some build-up games before the championship."
