Suspects in remand

Salaseini Vosamana
Tuesday, January 22, 2013

TWO of a group of five men apprehended shortly after an alleged robbery in February last year were denied bail by the High Court in Labasa last week.

Samuela Bavoro and Tevita Bulumakau appeared before Judge Justice Daniel Goundar each charged with aggravated robbery.

The duo and three accomplices allegedly entered the house of a businessman in Labasa and made off with $22,552.55 in cash and jewellery, and other assorted items to the total value of $31,631.05.

Their application for bail were denied by Justice Goundar.

State lawyer Sekonaia Vodokisolomone told the court the group was caught in Savusavu with the stolen items last year.

Justice Goundar refused bail for the pair, saying their presence on the streets would endanger public interest.

They have been remanded in custody.
