FIJI Football Association vice president Sheik Ibrahim has hailed the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League double header concept as a success.

The Fiji FA adopted the new concept this season after recording a low turnout last year.

Ibrahim said they were pleased with the increase in the number of spectators this year.

He said the fans would be in for a treat with the top teams clashing in Nadi this Saturday.

"As far as the NFL board is concerned the new double header concept is working well," Ibrahim said. "We are happy with the number of people who turned up on the weekend. The district teams are preparing well for all the matches."

"This coming weekend we will have a thriller at Prince Charles Park in Nadi. The hosts will play Ba while Suva will face Rewa. That will be the battle of the top teams.

"The people are eagerly waiting for the match ups."

"When we have two games at one venue the interest from the fans is higher.

"Last year the numbers for the matches were low."

"But there is a change this year with the new concept.

"It is very encouraging. Some venues are not ready as yet. We have been assured to get Ratu Cakobau Park and the National Stadium in April.

"For now we will continue to host matches where the venues are available."

"The aim is to complete the NFL by June.

"Then we want all the districts to complete their local league.

"From September we will kick off the new season for 2013 and 2014."

Ba leads the NFL with nine points followed by Nadi on seven points.
