Ministry hails tolerance

THE Ministry of Women, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation is embracing the various racial denominations in Fiji by recognising the different faith-based groups that exist here.

This was evident at the ground breaking ceremony of the new women multipurpose hall in Savusavu yesterday when members of different religious groups participated at the officiating of the event.

Minister Dr Jiko Luveni said this was part of the ministry's stand in supporting the one people, one race and one destiny in this multiracial country.

"We are promoting this idea through realising the various religious faith groups that we have amongst us," Dr Luveni said.

"We are even including them in the various events that we officiate in," she said.

Dr Luveni said the ministry would not only promote equality in terms of gender equality but also equality in other levels of society.
