SUVA 8 was crowned champion of the 2013 FBC Suva Volleyball Inter-district tournament after they defeated Suva 3 in two straights sets during the final of the Premier competition at the National Gymnasium in Suva last night.

Suva 8 was represented by Rebels club from Raiwai and the side continued its impressive performance in the local volleyball scene.

Team coach Peni Ratumaiyale said the win was the result of the hard work the boys had done in preparation for this tournament.

Ratumaiyale said most players in the side had been training with the Raiwai team for the Vulaca Championship which was postponed this week.

"I'm glad that the boys had proved themselves in this tournament especially as we had a lot of good teams in the competition," Ratumaiyale said.

"Playing in this tournament is just part of our preparation for the Vulaca tournament and we will continue with our training from next week."

In the Super Premier competition the final was still to be played when this edition went to press.

Nasinu 1 was the first team to confirm its spot in the final after winning the first semi-final.

Nasinu 1, which had the services of players from the champion Marist club, defeated Nasinu 3 in two straight sets.

In the women's competition Nasinu 1, which had national rep Ana Seniloli, also confirmed its spot in the final after beating Nasinu 3 in two straight sets.

The second women's semi-final was to be played between Suva 1 and Nasinu 2.
