Locals shine at Uprising 7s

Update: 4:01PM THE scorching heat at Lautokas Churchill Park has failed to dampen the spirit of teams competing in the Uprising Fiji International Sevens tournament.

In the early stage of the tournament, local clubs stood out as they managed to beat top bets in the pool play.

Yamacia created the biggest upset of the day after beating beat defending champion Red Rock 17-14 in the opening match.

Digicel Fiji Barbarians just managed to beat Lomaiviti Barbarians 19-15, thanks to the last-minute try from Josua Tuiova.

Gordon Tietjens New Zealand Emerging 7s suffered a shock loss to Uprising 19-21.
