Decree in force

Update: 1:19PM THE new Political Parties Registration, Conduct, Funding and Disclosure Decree 2013 is in effect today.

Existing political parties have only 28 days to re-register ahead of the 2014 general elections.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said all political parties must register. Failure to do so is an offence under the new decree.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said those registering must meet the various terms and conditions set out in the decree.
