Unity 7s called off

LACK of entries has forced the organisers of the Viria Blues Unity 7s tournament to move their tournament to next month.

Tournament organiser Apolosi Vakaloloma said the tournament, which was to be held this weekend, would now be played on February 1-2.

Vakaloloma said the slow response from teams had forced them to make this change.

"I want to reassure teams that have registered that we will run the tournament next month and all these teams have confirmed their spots in the tournament," Vakaloloma said.

"At the moment we only have 11 teams registered for the main tournament and four for the U19 competition. This postponement will allow more teams to register in the tournament."

The tournament will be held at the Burebasaga District School grounds in Rewa.

Vakaloloma said they were calling on sevens teams in the central and eastern divisions to take part.

Only 32 teams will be accommodated in the main competition while eight teams will battle in the U19 competition.
