LONDON - Jack Wilshere scored a sumptuous late goal to earn Arsenal a 1-0 victory over Swansea in their FA Cup third-round replay on Wednesday.
Arsenal was rewarded for a flurry of second-half pressure when Olivier Giroud laid the ball off to the England midfielder, who lashed a fierce shot into the corner from outside the area in the 86th minute.
The London club, who haven't won a major trophy since 2005, should have been out of sight by then, with Theo Walcott hitting the post and being denied on numerous other occasions.
The Gunners' victory sets up a fourth-round match against second-tier Brighton.
