Friday, January 18, 2013

SUGARCANE farmers nationwide will receive a special cane payment of $4 per tonne today.

This was confirmed to The Fiji Times by the acting Sugar Cane Growers Council CEO Sundresh Chetty.

"On behalf of all the growers, I would like to acknowledge the support from industry stakeholders and the Sugar Ministry for responding to our request and making this payment in time for the start of the new school year," he said.

"The growers' back-to-school preparations will be boosted with the receipt of this payment."
