VISITING teams to the Uprising Fiji International Sevens tournament were treated to some local cuisine and entertainment at a welcoming ceremony last night.
Players and officials of the New Zealand Emerging 7s, Australian Thunderbolts, Samoa, Tonga and the two 'shadow' Fiji 7s teams were accorded a traditional welcome at the Anchorage Beach Resort in Vuda.
Lautoka City Council chief executive officer Jone Nakauvadra and tournament major sponsor, Uprising Beach Resort operations manager James Pridgeon were the chief guests at the function.
The two-day tournament will start tomorrow at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Tonight, the official opening will be held at the Northern Club in Lautoka
