RED Rock will miss three key players at the Uprising Fiji International 7s but coach Lote Rasiga remains confident of a successful outing this weekend.
Skipper Jasa Veremalua, Viliame Navanua and Vucago Banitabua are in the national training squad and will also feature in the tournament ahead of the team naming for the Wellington Sevens.
"That's fine, we will still field a formidable side," Rasiga said.
"We are in fact very happy to have three of our players in the national training squad.
"That's the whole idea, to get the players, groom them and make them play on the international stage.
"That's what our club is all about. Every time we see a player move on it makes us proud."
Rasiga has helped several players move on to play top level rugby abroad including Sireli Bobo, Niumaia Cakacaka, Eremodo Tuni, Timoci Matanavou and Manasa Bola.
He said they could still win the tournament to add to their Coral Coast Sevens triumph.
"We go to every tournament to compete and win. We can still win this weekend because we give our 100 per cent in training and during game time," Rasiga said.
"We have lost three very good players but there is a decent squad to choose from.
"Red Rock will be out to win and to give the big teams a good go."
Rasiga reckons this tournament will be a lot stronger with the national training squad involved.
He says the fight for places for the Wellington Sevens will make the Uprising meet interesting and adds that this was also a chance for others wanting to make an impression with the national selectors to strut their stuff at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
