Update: 6:42PM PRIME Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama has met with UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon to discuss the countrys progress toward full democracy in Fiji and critical issues facing the developing world.
The meeting took place at the United Nations yesterday where Commodore Bainimarama briefed the Secretary General on his governments roadmap to return Fiji to full democracy, including the drafting of a new constitution and the plans for a nationwide election in 2014.
In 2012, more than 500,000 Fijians registered to vote for upcoming elections in a concentrated electronic voter-registration drive.
Commodore Bainimarama is at the United Nations for the ceremony of investiture of the Republic of Fiji as chair of the Group of 77 and China (G77), a UN bloc of 132 developing nations.
