THE Vulaca Volleyball Championship has been postponed, the officials announced yesterday.

The decision was made as there was a delay in the sponsorship agreement.

The tournament, which is organised by the Raiwai Volleyball Association, was initially scheduled for this Friday and Saturday, however, it will be played next month.

RVA interim vice-president Usaia Kalivakatoga said they were yet to receive the funds which were promised by the sponsors.

"Yes, the tournament is now postponed because of the delay of funds from our sponsors. We have received the confirmation letter from our sponsors telling us that they will sponsor the tournament," he said.

"But they have not updated us again on when they will give the money. So we have decided to postpone the tournament to next month." Eight associations including Raiwai have confirmed their participation at the two-day event.

Champion Suva team has withdrawn from the tournament following disagreements with the hosts.

Kalivakatoga said all eight associations were advised of the change. He said no association had decided to withdraw from the tournament following the announcement of the change.

"We have informed the eight associations about the change, we have explained to them the reason why we postponed the tournament and everyone is happy and have given us their support,"

he added.
