Sewer setback

DEVELOPMENTS planned for Tavua are being put on the back burner because of the lack of a sewer system in the town centre.

This was revealed by the Tavua Town Council at the 2012 fourth quarter Local Government consultative forum held at the Tanoa Waterfront Hotel in Lautoka last week.

"No sewer system continues to provide challenges to future developments, especially the planned construction of a four-storey building in the town centre," said council CEO Tulsi Ram.

He said the issue had to be addressed if Tavua was to develop as a business centre. He presented challenges faced because of no proper waste disposal and the difficulties faced by them in meeting the rising costs of providing basic services.
