THE family of a 25-year-old man who died in a road accident near Nadi yesterday was lost for words when told of his death.

Ifraz Aktar Ali was driving home from work early yesterday when he lost control of his vehicle at the Nadovi junction along the Queens Rd.

The eldest of five children, Ifraz was the only employed member of the sugar cane farming family.

"He was a very decent and happy guy who everyone could rely on," said his brother Imraz Ali.

"He was always smiling and had many friends who enjoyed being around him.

"He was also the eldest in our family, so we looked up to him."

The younger Mr Ali remembers his brother leaving for work on Monday evening.

"He was very dedicated to his work as a caterpillar driver. Even though it was not much, he committed himself to his work," he said. According to police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro, Ali sustained serious injuries.

His death has prompted police to issue a caution to motorists.

"We are pleading with drivers to be careful while out on our roads and if at any point they do feel fatigued, then it is advisable to pull over to the side of the road and rest," Ms Naisoro said.

"This will not only help save their lives but the lives of other road users."
