Timely school aid

Salaseini Vosamana
Wednesday, January 16, 2013

FORTY unfortunate children in the north will start the new school year in style after receiving school packs from the Northern Charity Alliance yesterday.

Alliance secretary, Ramesh Chand said the AusAID-funded initiative was part of their efforts to assist those affected by Tropical Cyclone Evan last month.

"As part of the $73,000 grant donated by AusAID for cyclone victims, we have assisted people with their children's education, food rations and water tanks," Mr Chand said.

"We will also be travelling to Bua to distribute about 100 school packs to children at Tavea, Galoa, Yaqaga and Naivaka. The packs might not be sufficient but at least, we are offering a helping hand."

The children conveyed their sincere gratitude to the organisation for its timely help.
