Update: 1:32PM A 37-year-old Tore villager in Sigatoka is the latest drowning victim.
According to Police spokeswoman, Ana Naisoro, the farmer was part of a fishing expedition with other villagers when he was swept away by strong currents yesterday morning.
He was dragging the fishing net with 16 other villagers when he was swept away by strong currents.
The deceased was later pulled up and attempts to revive him proved futile. He was conveyed to the Sigatoka Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, said Ms Naisoro in a release.
The drowning death toll now stands at two compared to four for the same period last year.
