Update: 2:20PM THE government will implement a National Council for Older Persons this year.
Minister for Social Welfare, Women and Poverty Alleviation Dr Jiko Luveni confirmed this in an interview today saying the council would be established to implement the framework of Fijis policy for senior citizens.
Dr Luveni said the aim behind the establishment of the council was to provide a supportive environment for senior citizens and persons living with disabilities.
