THE construction of a new $17,000 nurses' quarters will help improve the provision of health services to people from Serua Province.
Serua and Namosi provincial administrator Viliame Rakai said they hoped to complete the project by the end of this month.
Mr Rakai said the health centre which was located in Korovisilou Village caters for more than six villages in Serua Province and manpower in the health centre was in great demand.
"The construction of the new nursing quarters will give a good opportunity for nurses to be posted close to the health centre and lack of manpower will not be an issue," he said. "A lot of people from Serua Province have always been directed to the Navua Hospital because of manpower issues and also because of the facilities provided, so this project will assist in the betterment of services provided within the province."
Roko Tui Serua Panapasa Raceva said they were grateful for the construction of the nurses' quarters.
But he said they had also sought assistance in getting a bigger health centre and a sub-division fire station located at Korovisilou Village.
