Update: 8:11PM THE national road death toll is expected to rise to three for this year.
Apete Matacala, 31, who was involved in a serious accident last Wednesday died at the Lautoka Hospital yesterday morning.
Mr Matacala, of Waimalika in Sabeto, Nadi, was standing on the roadside when a vehicle driven by a 34-year old Suva man allegedly hit him and drove off.
The vehicle driver was later arrested at Cuvu in Sigatoka, charged by police and produced in the Nadi Magistrates Court.
However, with Mr Matacalas death now, police investigators will look at the case again.
Police will await the post mortem result before classifying it as the third death by road accident.
