FORMER Fiji sevens rep Filimoni Botitu will feature for Yamacia in the Uprising Fiji 7s tournament next week at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Team manager David Dakuitoga confirmed the former Mala Young Boys player was training with the team and would feature in the Uprising 7s before joining the Serevi Select team in Seattle, USA.

Botitu, who represented Fiji in the 2008/09 International Rugby Board Sevens World Series, has been in the country since the Coral Coast 7s in November last year.

Dakuitoga also confirmed the inclusion of former Fiji Warrior Jerry Tuilevu, former Wardens player Mosese Vatunitu and national 7s team trialist Luke Navuwai in the Nadi-based club.

He said Tuilevu, who had a stint in France, had recovered from an injury and was keen to get back on the field.

Dakuitoga said the inclusion of experienced stars would boost the morale of their young and upcoming players.

Yamacia will face a stiff battle in the pool play with giants Wardens, Red Rock and Tokatoka Barbarians in Pool A of the Uprising 7s.

Dakuitoga said the team would work hard in the remaining days to ensure they were fully prepared to face the top guns in the two-day meet.

He said they were taking a realistic approach but had their eyes fixed on toppling some big teams in the tournament.

"We started the club in July last year and we are taking a step at a time. We have big goals for this club and our main aim would be setting up a solid foundation and ensuring team bonding at the Uprising 7s."

Dakuitoga said playing against top teams in the pool stage would help the players get the much-needed exposure and benefit them in the long run.

Former Flying Fijians Aisea Tuilevu and Vilimoni Delasau are coaching the team.
