2005 Rugby World Cup Sevens winning duo Viliame Satala and Ifereimi Rawaqa will team up to spearhead the Lautoka Hurricanes campaign during the Uprising International 7s in Lautoka next week.

The Hurricanes, with a blend of youth and experience, started training at Churchill Park on Monday.

The side also includes former Fiji 7s flyer Watekini Vunisa.

Former Fiji 7s coach Peni Veidreyaki has been roped in as the technical advisor for the Hurricanes.

Veidreyaki said veteran Satala was the coach/player of the team.

He said the focus was to build a winning combination.

"The likes of Ifereimi, Viliame and Watekini bring a lot of experience to the team," Veidreyaki said.

"They have played rugby for some time making their name in the abbreviated code. There are other young boys in the team that we are giving exposure."

"We will take every game seriously. As for Viliame, Ifereimi and Watekini we will see where they fit in each match based on the makeup of the opposition."

Rawaqa last played 7s rugby in 2005. The towering lock said he would need to pick up on his fitness.

"It has been a long time since I last played 7s rugby," the Vuda villager said.

"But it is good to be back on the scene and showcasing the sport I love."

The Uprising International 7s will be played at Churchill Park from January 18-19.
