LTA impounds vehicles

FIVE vehicles were seized by the Land Transport Authority (LTA) in Lautoka and Nadi after the owners were discovered to be operating illegal car rental businesses.

LTA team leader west, Joji Suguturaga said a vehicle from Lautoka was charged with one count of deception and one count of illegal permit holder.

Four vehicles were seized in Nadi with the car owners facing similar charges.

"We will follow the normal processes where each of the vehicle owners will face a tribunal before the chief executive officer," Mr Suguturaga said.

"The drivers could lose their license or they could be faced with fines as a form of punishment," he said.

The cars are impounded at the LTA's Lautoka yard.
