Update: 7:29PM A 5.0 MAGNITUDE earthquake struck 263 kilometres west north west of Lautoka city this morning.
Located at a depth of 66.2 kilometres, the Mineral Resources Department revealed that the 5.0 magnitude earthquake struck at around 10.55am.
In a statement, the department stated that the earthquake posed no tsunami threat to the western region of the country.
"No tsunami threat is expected within the region in particular to the local coastal vicinities. Such earthquake size and depth do not normally generate local tsunami, based on historical database."
