FORMER rep Timoci Raju has been roped in to guide the Nadi team for the opening round of the Fiji Sun/GP Batteries National Football League this weekend.

Raju, who represented the Jet Set side in the 1990s as centre back, is holding the coach's fort in place of Kamal Swamy who is tied with national Under-17 commitments.

Nadi, which won the Pacific Cup in New Zealand last November, recorded a slow start during training earlier this week.

Nadi Football Association president Tarun Patel said some players had been affected by the Tropical Cyclone Evan last month.

He said they had retained the same squad from last year. Nadi is set to play two matches in Vanua Levu this weekend. Tomorrow Nadi will take on hosts Labasa at Subrail Park at 1.30pm while on Sunday Nadi will face Savusavu at the same venue at 1.30pm.
