A TOTAL of 54 players will compete in the three-day Fiji Table Tennis Open Championship that begins today in Suva.
This is a huge decrease in the number of participants, however, organisers are confident of a good tournament.
Fiji Table Tennis Association president Anthony Ho said the recent cyclone and venue confirmation resulted in the drop in the number of participants.
He added the Kasabias-sponsored tournament will be competed in 34 events and close to 90 trophies are on the line.
"New champions in the main men's and women's competition will be crowned because the defending champions are busy with other commitments.
The tournament will be played at the FMF Gymnasium and entry for spectators is free.
