FIJI netball coach Unaisi Rokoura hopes players achieve the required fitness during the national squad beep test this afternoon at the Vodafone Arena in Laucala.

The 18-member squad will undergo the basic skills drill to allow Rokoura to gauge the level of fitness in the players.

The former national skipper said the fitness test would show the commitment of the players in donning the national jumper for the upcoming international events.

"Basically I have set requirements for each test that the players should be hitting especially coming back from a long break," Rokoura said.

"These players are elite athletes and know what is expected of them even when they come from off-season."

Rokoura said based on the results from the fitness test, she would draw up a training program for the players to follow this season.

She said their basic focus was to identify players who lacked fitness.

"At the end of the test, we will be able to see if these players have been doing their off-season running.

"Once the result is compiled we will then be able to draw up a training program that will take us through the season.

"We will not go lightly to those has do not meet the requirements."

The fitness test will start at 5.30pm.
