THE FIJI Volleyball Federation has plans in place to develop the sport in the Western Division.

National coach Kenneth Lidise was in Lautoka last Saturday to conduct trials for players wishing to be part of the Fiji training squad for this year's Pacific Mini Games in Wallis & Futuna. Lidise was impressed with the young talents.

He said the aim was to certify the coaches.

"The plan is to conduct coaching clinics in the Western Division," Lidise said.

"That is the way to go. If we groom and educate the coaches well then we can expect the standard of volleyball to lift in the Western Division.

"There is a need for referees clinics as well. All the affiliates have to do is to put in a request to FVF. We are always ready to help."

Teams from Rakiraki through to Sigatoka will participate in the Western Rally Championship in Nadi on January 26.
