Woman in court for breaching bail order

Wednesday, January 09, 2013

A WOMAN charged with one count of absconding bail appeared in the Suva Magistrate Court yesterday.

Veniana Vualati failed to abide by her bail conditions in relation to her initial charge of a robbery related offence. Police prosecutor Caroline Fisher said the women failed to appear in court but sent her husband instead when her case of robbery was first called in September last year.

However, Ms Fisher said Ms Vualati fled to a village in Lau despite her bail conditions.

Magistrate Alipate Mataitini heard that Ms Vualati robbed the Total Service Station along Victoria Parade.

He has ordered the accused to be remanded in custody and adjourned to later this month.
