YADRANA’S emphatic win in the Suva Cricket Association (SCA) weekly league finals last weekend has fulfilled their revival target.
The club set its target of stamping its mark in the domestic tournament two years ago and achieved it by dethroning HMT Army after beating the previous champions by 11 runs at Albert Park in Suva on Saturday.
SCA president and club supporter Adriu Misiki thanked the players and team management for bringing the team from ‘dead’ to a major title win.
“While we respect HMT Army with their tons of experience and skills, the boys were determined to go that extra mile to achieve their purpose,” Misiki said.
“It was the best show that the Yadrana team have displayed for some time.”
Yadrana made a superb start in the showdown to score 128 runs.
The side also made a perfect start in the second innings after sending Army’s opening batsman, Taione Cakacaka on the duck and Sevunivola Baba with five runs.
Both were bowled out by Yadrana skipper Samu Draunivudi.
Army all-rounders Joe Kida, Kiti Tavo and Jone Seuvou were also unable to contain the bowling prowess of Yadrana as they managed to score 117 runs at the end of 20 overs.
“The Yadrana community around the globe have sent the boys their appreciation for the achievement that they have created,” Misiki said.
“The team is preparing well to face the challenges from its opposition in this second round commencing this coming Saturday.”
