PLAYERS from the four clubs that reached the semi-finals of the Nadi Volleyball Association knockout competition last Saturday will dominate the Jetset squad for the Western Rally Championship.
The clubs which reached the semi-finals of the men’s division include Votualevu, Martintar, Tabernacle Eagles and Waqadra.
The clubs that reached the women’s semi-finals are Lanai Gold, Delana, Northern Stars and Neighbours.
NVA secretary Anasa Qio said the focus on the WRC would start today.
He said players from all the teams that reached the semi-finals had been invited to attend district training each afternoon at the Airports Fiji Limited hard courts in Namaka.
Qio said former Fiji beach volleyball rep Finau Waqa would be one of the senior players guiding the Nadi team.
“Finau played a crucial part in her Tanai Gold team’s victory during the knockout tournament,” Qio said.
“Finau is now working in Nadi and it is very good to see her pass down the experience she has gained at the international level to the youngsters.”
Finau, a former Suva Grammar School athlete and netball rep, won the beach volleyball gold medal during the 2003 South Pacific Games in Suva.
The NVA will host the WRC in Namaka on January 26.
