A FARMER charged with one count of assault was released on a $1000 bail yesterday.
Amenatave Saimone appeared before Magistrate Sia’iniu Fa’alogo Bull in the Labasa Magistrates Court where it was heard that Mr Saimone assaulted his wife during a heated argument at Bocalevu outside Labasa Town on September 18 last year.
Mr Saimone represented himself and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Bull ordered Mr Saimone to report to the Labasa Police Station every Saturday from 6am to 6pm.
He was also told not to interfere, threaten or intimidate the victim or witnesses.
Police prosecution has been given 14 days to provide disclosures.
The case resumes on March 6.
