THREE more associations have registered for the Vulaca Championships. This takes the total number of associations competing to eight.
At the end of the initial registration period only Raiwaqa, Security Forces, Kinoya and USP had confirmed their participation.
The registration period was extended for another week and associations from Nakasi, Nadonumai and Vatuwaqa took advantage to register their teams.
Host association Raiwai had already confirmed their participation while the only major association that will not compete is the defending champions, Suva.
Raiwai Volleyball Association Interim vice president Usaia Kalivakatoga said the response towards the annual competition was good.
"All the associations have registered four teams each — two men's and two women's except for Kinoya and Raiwaqa who have confirmed two mens and a woman's teams," he said.
With only two weeks for the event, Kalivakatoga has asked the teams to prepare well for the event.
"We hope the teams prepare well so that they can display good skills and play a good game for the benefit of the volleyball fans.
"I know there is only two weeks left and I think the teams will be ready come January 18."
The tournament will be held on January 18 and 19 in Suva and will be played at two venues.
"Competition for the first day will be played at the FMF Gymnasium while day two competition and the final will be played at Vodafone Arena," Kalivakatoga said.
