MORE than $27,000 is up for grabs at all Bure 7s tournaments this season. This is after the organisers revealed they will be hosting a tournament each month this year where the winner will walk away with $2,500 in each tournament.

Bure 7s official Emosi Nabete said they would be hosting 11 tournaments this year. "We will host a tournament every month. We are looking at a $2,500 prizemoney for every winner in each tournament," he said.

Nabete said the main initiative in organising the tournaments was to expose their local rugby players from the village of Soa in Nakorotubu, Ra. He said they had seen massive improvements from their players.

"Our main objective was to expose our rugby talented players from the village to the competition in the urban area. We believe that if our boys are exposed to playing teams from Suva, they will become better players in the future," Nabete said.

"All ready we have seen improvements and confidence in their games and we hope to give them as much opportunities as possible," he said.

And since the first tournament in December, 2011, the Bure organisers have hosted seven tournaments.

The most recent was won by Bure Ambassadors at Suva Grammar School grounds last month. The next Bure tournament will be held next month at the Suva Grammar School grounds.
