CIVIL Society Organisations (CSOs) have always excelled in the provision of direct assistance with a difference.
A statement from the Fiji Council of Social Services (FCOSS) says there is a need to enhance these activities of care through co-ordination and collaboration so that gaps in services could be minimised.
The statement said it was for that reason that all activities should be done through and with the involvement of the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO), so that the National Disaster Management Council (NDMC) had the correct picture of the rehabilitation situation and that help to the needy was maximised.
"As projects and relief assistance to families are completed reports should be filed with the DISMAC offices and also FCOSS as legislated representative of the CSOs on the NDMC," the statement said.
"The CSOs and all those in the relief and rehabilitation services activities are urged to take special care of the elderly, people with different abilities and vulnerable families with children."
