HARE Krishna devotees gathered at the Sri Radha Golokabihari Hare Krishna Temple in Toorak on Tuesday with many goals, one of which was to increase food distribution to the needy and elderly this year.
Devotees from the Suva, Nasinu and Nausori areas performed rituals and offered food items to their gurus to mark two special occasions — their founder's birthday and the first day of the year.
The birthday celebrations was for Bhaktisidhanta Prabhupada's birthday — guru and founder of the movement. He was also known to his worshippers as the Divine Grace. He died in 1931.
The movement plans to build more temples around the country to complement the four main temples and other smaller ones in different parts of the country. The four main temples are located in Suva, Lautoka, Sigatoka and Labasa.
