VOTUALEVU and Neighbours head into the Nadi Volleyball Association knockout tournament tomorrow as favourites.

The knockout tournament was disrupted last week after a heavy downpour in Namaka. The organisers were forced to postpone the matches after three rounds because of the slippery conditions of the Airports Fiji Limited hard courts.

Votualevu team led by former Fiji trialist Joe Vakadranu is the top bet in the men's division.

The side is unbeaten along with Tabernacle Eagles.

Neighbours with former national rep Rapeka Lasaqa is the favourite in the women's division. The side remains unbeaten together with Delana.

NVA vice president Dan Vakadranu said the knockout competition would serve as the final trials for the Western Rally Championship.

He said they had already identified some players to represent the district in the upcoming WRC.

"The names of the players who will form the district team will be announced next week," Dan said.

"This weekend the selectors will once again be looking at the players.

"There are many youngsters who are representing the clubs. They have good potential.

"We will get the senior players to guide them once they make the district team."

Meanwhile Nadi will host the WRC. The tournament will be played at the AFL hard courts and AFL ground one in Namaka on January 26.

A meeting of the affiliates will be held on January 19 to confirm the number of teams for the WRC.
