THE Boxing Commission of Fiji will meet World Boxing Foundation (WBF) officials today.

Details about the meeting are sketchy but the commission hopes for some favourable announcements after the meeting at around midday.

Boxing Commission of Fiji board member Malakai Veisamasama said they were going to the meeting with an open mind.

"At the moment we have no idea what the meeting is about but we hope to forge a relationship and work for the betterment of the sport in the country," Veisamasama said. "Their (WBF) coming to meet us shows their confidence in the commission."

Late last year, Saki Veitogavi was appointed by the WBF as its representative in Fiji and the Pacific.

Fijian boxers ranked by WBF include Intercontinental Cruiserweight champion Mosese Sorovi, Asia Pacific Light Heavyweight champion Sakiusa Mekemeke, Intercontinental Super Middleweight champion Joseph Kwadjo, Asia Pacific Middleweight champ John Krishna fighting out of Australia and Intercontinental Lightweight title holder Junior Farzan Ali.

Kali Meehan holds the World Boxing Foundation Heavyweight title.
