Update: 5:01PM A 19-year-old male appeared at the Nadi Magistrates Court today for the rape of a 14-year-old girl.
According to divisional police prosecutor West, Assistant Superintendent of Police Anil Prasad, the 19-year-old allegedly raped the girl in Nadi on December 30, 2012.
Appearing before Magistrate Thushara Rajasinghe, the accused was charged with one count of rape.
ASP Anil said the 19-year-olds plea has been deferred to later a date.
The matter has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court for mention on February 4. The accused has been remanded in custody.
