FIJI men's volleyball coach Kenneth Lidise is looking at roping in experienced players into the national squad for the Pacific Mini Games in September.
However, Lidise also stated that he will keep a close eye on new players during the two-day trials which started at the Vodafone Arena last night.
The national coach said he tested players on their vertical jumps, upper body strength and fitness.
"I will be looking at players with experience and those who have high skills. I will be selecting 30 players after this first trials and probably reduce the number again in March," he said.
"Today is the first day for the trial and we will wait for more players tomorrow (today).
"This is an open trial so anyone who is interested can join tomorrow (today).
"I will also want to select players who have the potential and when given the proper guidance, they will become better players," he said.
Lidise is planning to have the second trial in March where he will further reduce the squad to 20.
