RISIATE Baba and Sailasa Taka propelled Toba Blues to win the Tuisuva Volleyball trophy in the final against Yadako at Suvavou on Tuesday.
The duo led the onslaught when Toba trailing by one set heading into the second. Baba's height was an advantage with his power spikes, turning the heat on Toba. The fightback saw Toba win 2-1.
Baba and Taka were rewarded with their fine performance when they were later approached by the Suva volleyball officials to attend the national trials at the Vodafone Arena yesterday.
Toba defeated Nailoni 2-1 in the semi-finals while Yadako beat Matasawa 2-1 to book their spot in the final.
Tournament organiser Bobby Zinck said the mouth-watering final was exciting to watch.
"It was a frustrating final because everyone was expecting Toba to win from the beginning. They were beaten in the first set but bounced back later," he said.
The Toba Blues, led by skipper Setareki Cevaca, walked away with $500 .
Zinck said they hoped to improve the tournament next year.
