POLICE officers in the north have taken a determined stand to improve their overall services to the general public this year.
Deputy divisional commander northern acting Senior Superintendent of Police Fulori Rainibogi said officers were required to work effectively to ensure a crime-free society for all. "During this festive season, there were no major reports received from all over the region and this is good news because it shows that officers are carrying out their duties well," acting SSP Rainibogi said.
"We aim to improve our service this year as we work towards reducing the level of criminal activities. We have learned from our past mistakes and we will try to uplift our service."
She said officers from Labasa travelled to Cakaudrove and Seaqaqa to monitor the New Year's celebration this week. "I also thank the public for their kind cooperation in making the festive season an incident-free one and we only hope such positive attitudes will continue for the purpose of creating a crime-free society," she said.
"There will be more community policing and road safety programs this year so everyone can live in a safe and secured community," she said.
