THREE youths of Sakoca settlement in Tacirua have been granted bail by Magistrate Yohan Liyanage after pleading guilty to assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer in execution of his duty.
Samuel Peters, 21, Kelvin Kumar, 19, Roneel Kumar, 20 waived their right to counsel and asked the court's forgiveness.
While Peters is a first offender, Kelvin and Kumar have pending cases. They are also charged with one count each of assault and disorderly conduct.
The court heard that on December 29 last year, the drunken trio verbally abused and assaulted a police officer.
In mitigation, Peters asked the court for forgiveness and said he was remorseful for his actions.
Kelvin Kumar, a carpenter, promised the court he would not reoffend and that he was heavily intoxicated at the time.
The third accused told the court he was unemployed and, like the second accused, was drunk at the time of the incident.
The three were given a $1000 bail bond and await sentencing on January 23.
