SVA to focus on preparations for competition

THE Suva Volleyball Association will focus on its Inter-District Championship (IDC) after pulling out of the Vulaca Championship.

Suva did not agree to the number of teams set out by the host association (Raiwai) for the Vulaca and opted to withdraw from the competition and focus on its own.

Association spokesman Jone Kalouniviti said all Suva clubs would prepare for the IDC later this month.

"Yes we are out of the Vulaca now because they wanted us to field only two teams which we cannot because we are a big association," he said.

SVA will host its IDC competition on January 18-19.

Suva's withdrawal from the Vulaca, means the association will not be part of the Vanua Challenge.

"Now we will focus on our IDC because we will not take part in the Vulaca and Vanua as well. We will concentrate to lift the standard of our IDC," Kalouniviti said.

Meanwhile yesterday the association released names of players to attend the Pacific Mini Games trials at the Vodafone Arena tomorrow.

Kalouniviti acknowledged Fiji Volleyball for allowing them to be part of the trials.

"We thank Fiji Volleyball for allowing Suva to send its list for the trials," he said. The SVA will begin its competition again on Saturday.
