TELECOM Fiji Limited (TFL) were able to restore service to 80 per cent of the affected areas within the first week following Tropical Cyclone Evan.
TFL chief executive officer, Ivan Fong said it was the perseverance and diligence of his staff in restoring services to the affected areas.
Mr Fong said services would be restored as and when FEA completed restoration works in remaining areas.
TFL is also proud to have made a difference during and after Tropical Cyclone Evan's devastation in parts of the country.
They provided EasyTel handsets to the Commissioner Central's Office, DISMAC teams in the Central, Western and Northern divisions, Fiji Police Force and the Water Authority of Fiji.
It also supplied the Fiji Meteorological Office with additional internet to cater for the surge in users accessing their website.
Commissioner Central, Colonel Laisenia Tuitubou thanked TFL for its commitment to support the Central Division during the height of cyclone.
"Through that support the Central Division was able to handle the situation, exceptionally well, which enabled the quick return of essential services, and life to normalcy, to part of our Central Division rural community," Col. Tuitubou said.
Commissioner Northern, Lieutenant Colonel Ilai Moceica also commended the good work by the TFL team.
"TFL was the only provider that sustained connectivity in space consistently throughout, which is indicative of the resilient structures and staff in providing continuity of service," Lt-Col Moceica said.
