Take lead in rehab

Salaseini Vosamana
Saturday, December 29, 2012

THE Department of Agriculture in the north is encouraging farmers whose farms were destroyed by Cyclone Evan to take the lead role in rehabilitating their farms instead of relying on government assistance.

Northern principal agricultural officer John Cox said it was only proper for farmers to use the planting materials they possessed to rehabilitate their farms.

"The onus rests entirely on every individual farmer to recuperate their farms as the State will assist them in due time," Mr Cox said.

He said it was a farmer's responsibility to rebuild his farm "because most of them depend on it for income".
