Relief packs for 1800

Repeka Nasiko
Tuesday, December 25, 2012

OVER three days the Sangha relief team worked tirelessly, distributing food packs to more than 1800 people affected by Cyclone Evan in Lautoka and Ba.

The team began its distribution a day after Cyclone Evan ravaged through Lautoka and Ba leaving many homeless.

Volunteers from the organisation gave out grocery packs and clothes to families in Naviago, Waiyavi, Vomo, Vitogo, Naikabula, Tuvu and Tavarau.

Team member Akhilesh Prasad said the team found the distribution process challenging.

"During the flood relief operations when villages and affected areas were visited, the whole village or area on the same ground level had water in their homes with similar damage caused to all houses hence the distribution was easier with all houses provided assistance."

For details on how to make contributions, people are requested to contact Swami Sanyuktanand on 3317625 or 6640420.
