US Ambassador Frankie Reed has announced that $US50,000 ($F87,719) will be provided immediately to the Fiji Red Cross Society to respond to the needs of disaster-affected people in Fiji as the result of Tropical Cyclone Evan.
"My heart goes out to those who have lost their homes or were affected by this disaster. I hope this funding can be used to help the Red Cross assist those in need," Ms Reed said.
USAID's Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA) is providing the funding through the embassy to support the Red Cross in providing blankets, sanitation kits, water purification tablets, and other emergency relief items to affected populations.
